2011, 16h, Registered Hanoverian mare by Ferro, out of an imported elite Hanoverian mare [Regazzoni (Rubinstein I)/Davignon].
Ferriana is a lovely dark bay registered Hanoverian mare. Her sire, Ferro, competed successfully in the 2000 Olympic Games and is known for producing offspring of the highest quality. Ferro carries the bloodlines of Furioso xx through his sire, Ulft, son of the great stallion, Le Mexico. From the dam line of Ferro comes the blood of Farn, legendary in Holsteiner jumper breeding, and sire of the great Nimmerdor, named KWPN Stallion of the Century.
The Ferro offspring have beautiful toplines, a beauty and elegance about them, and superior athletic ability. They are versatile athletes, suitable for both jumping and dressage.
Ferriana's dam, Ria (Regazzoni/Davignon), was imported from Germany as a 4 year old by the then President of the AHS, Doug Leatherdale. Dan surem Regazzoni, is a son of the famous dressage sire, Rubinstein I. Rubenstein I achieved 40 Grand Prix wins, and is the sire of 66 licensed sons and 89 states premium mares. Her dam sire, Davignon is a son of Donnerhall, whose competition career was one of legends.
Ferriana's dam, Ria, an elite mare with the AHS was the champion of her Hanoverian inspection. Ria had a successful dressage career under trainer Kat Simard prior to retiring as a broodmare.
Although dam and sire both competed in dressage, Ria had a 9 jump score at her AHS inspection, and Ferro himself began his career as a successful jumper.
Ferriana has lovely movement, but she also has a ton of scope. She can clear a 4 foot oxer by a foot or more, and was quite happy to do it. She is a high energy horse and very much prefers jumping and cross country to dressage. At her last show in Estes Park in July 2023, she was first out of 37 in the 0.85 meter, and reserve champion for the show.
A modest show career with a forever home is what we seek for Ferriana. At age 13, she will have many successful riding years ahead with her new owner with only minimal maintenance required. Ferriana was originally retained for our breeding program, so she was not started until age 8. Her high energy and drive to work made us reconsider those plans, and so we put her into training, thinking she would be quite bored as a broodmare. Due to her later start in her career, we have not sought to push her to a higher jumping level, although the potential is certainly there.
Ferriana could be bred to produce a legendary foal, once she retires from showing. We always felt she would be happiest staying in work, but breeding is certainly an option for her.
Update: As of January 20, 2024, Ferriana is starting back into work with Fran Latane at Lillicrest Farm in Osseo, WI.
Please check for updates on Facebook as Ferriana's training progresses. Price to be adjusted based on her progress in training.
